CROYDON THERAPY CLINIC

MEET THE STAFF

About me:

Paul Carr

Company Director
Croydon Therapy Clinic
I have gained a wealth of practical working knowledge and skills during 25 years working for the NHS, mainly working in neurology stroke care and rehabilitation units.

In 2007 I studied rehabilitation at London South Bank University (LSBU) and The University of East London (UEL) for 2 years and successfully achieved a Foundation degree in Rehabilitation Science.

I have always had a great passion for Neurology and Rehabilitation. I get great job satisfaction from helping patients and clients maintain their independence and manage their present condition whether it be rehabilitation from a hip or knee replacement or after suffering a stroke.

I have had 1 article published in the Nursing Times and 7 articles published in the British Journal of Health-Care Assistants. The articles relate to Stroke and Stroke Rehabilitation.

I have also written 2 books, one of which was an award winning interactive work book for, Health Care Assistants, Rehab Technicians,  Students and Physiotherapy Assistants. Developing Skills & Competencies through Work Based Learning.

The second book is directed at Carers & Relatives and contains a large section on caring duties, support and guidance. Both books cover, Brain Anatomy, Stroke, Nursing Duties Occupational Therapy, Physiotherapy, Speech & Language Therapy, Dieticians and Infection Control

Company Director: Croydon Therapy Clinic & CEO of Continuing Community Care

As providers of treatment and rehabilitation services that are not normally offered by local authorities, CTC specialise in hydrotherapy and physiotherapy. These services improve a persons mobility, strength and flexibility.  Aiding people wanting to stay within the comfort of their own homes, with their families and to help relieve the backlog of patients awaiting NHS support. The 6-week permitted treatment time within the NHS, post operation or injury, is often not enough support to fully recover from said ailment. CTC provide further steps to help those in recovery and in need of rehabilitation, specialising in people with long-term conditions and or chronic illnesses.

In April 2023 I wrote the constitution to form a local charity, namely Continuing Community Care (CCC). The charity was developed to bring a much-needed health facility in South London. In July 2023, CCC was officially given charity status (registration number 1204035) and are applying for financial aid from the National Lottery Funding Team. Currently, the charity is making land inquiries around Croydon, in the hope of finding a future home for this fledgling charity.

Finding land will be the first step in building a fully accessible state-of-the-art rehabilitation centre which features a hydrotherapy pool, gym, mediation room and so much more. The design will prioritises accessibility. Wanting to provide support, so clients maintain their independence. Establishing healthy and effective exercises within your everyday life can be difficult, CCC aids in providing real time treatment solutions, client specific exercise programmes and appropriate customer care.

This is the beginning of the journey. Even though CTC and CCC are independent of each other, they work closely to achieve the ultimate goal. In the upcoming months, CCC with the help of CTC aim to transform the practice of Croydon Healthcare.
